Welcome to the COLLINS GALLERY.      We specialize in Persian rugs, from 75 to 150 years old. Our inventory is known for its excellent condition and aesthetic merit at all price points. We emphasize South Persian tribal and village rugs, as well as all types of Bijar rugs from Persian Kurdistan. A fine selection of large, decorative Persian carpets is always available. Our inventory is available in digital images or hard copies. Our clientele is international, so Mr. Collins is available to consult on decorative projects or collecting goals wherever you may be located.        The COLLINS GALLERY was established in 1979. Before that time, John Collins restored 17th and 18th century houses in the picturesque colonial seaport town of Newburyport, Massachusetts. During that period, his interest in American antiquities led to a fascination with Oriental rugs. His original collection of the mid-seventies provided the beginning inventory.        Since that time, John Collins has mounted eight major Exhibitions and Sales of South Persian tribal and village rugs and saddlebags. He has exhibited at every American Conference on Oriental Carpets, and given lectures at three of them. He has exhibited at both American appearances of the International Conference on Oriental Carpets. He has exhibited at two HALI CARPET FAIRS in London. He has lectured at the Oriental rug societies of Washington, Boston, Chicago, and Cleveland.      John Collins wrote many articles for the ORIENTAL RUG REVIEW, several antique publications, and an article on Bijars for HALI magazine. He also published several catalogues to accompany the South Persian Exhibitions.      Now the Collins Gallery has moved to a spacious new setting in Watertown, MA. We are 1.5 miles from Harvard Square and only 15 minutes from downtown, Boston.      The knowledge, taste, and connections that John Collins has developed over the last twenty-five years are available to you.
